LMS "Coronation" class pacific 6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" was the largest engine at the 2003 Crewe Open Day and is seen here parked close to the traverser. The Stanier designed engine is so long it was almost impossible to get a wide enough shot of it without falling into the traverser pit. Just to the right of it, out of shot is 5690. Putting all the "crimson lakes" together was a nice touch. photo DGC.
