Overview

SRPS Wagon Fleet The Society has a fleet of some 78 wagons; of these just under half are either in the Museum as part of the exhibition in SRE1 or in the shelter adjacent to the Reserve Collection Building. These wagons have been restored and are not subject to the ravages of the weather so whilst an important part of our fleet they require less attention to maintain their condition. The remaining wagons are stored outside and spread across the Bo’ness yard with their status split between what has been designated as operational (i.e. those that are passed fit to run along the branch line for exhibition goods trains or photo charters); wagons that have been allocated to the civil engineering department to support the ongoing maintenance of the track and structures on the branch; vehicles which have been identified as being of particular interest to visitors and as such are located in sidings to which the public have direct access and will have accompanying interpretation boards; finally there are a number of wagons which do not fall into any of the foregoing categories and are currently classed as ‘residual’.
